The Talytil Lakes are clean once more, and Pets and Companions alike are already flocking to its waters.
"It's excitin' to see the Lakes bustling," Gilbert admits.
"Sure is!" Jacobi says, clapping his paws together. "Look! A Wabby is already exploring the shore -- that Traptur better watch their toes!"
A nearby Yellow Traptur looks up in alarm, then down, and gently pushes the approaching Wabby away with their tail.
"Anyway," Gilbert says. "Thank you all for comin' to help clean up. We couldn't have done it without you."
Congratulations, Terrafrostians, on successfully Cleaning Talytil Lakes, our 2023 Discovery Event! Thank you all for taking part, and for your patience with the many hiccups along the way. We have learned a lot from this experience, and appreciate all of your feedback and support!
All stretch goals were achieved, totaling in over 90,000 points collectively earned by over 100 Terrafrostians! This means everyone who took part will receive the following prizes over the upcoming days:
- Event Avatar - Event Trophy - 1x Aquatic Staff - Discovery Avatar - 175,000 IcePoints - 1x Muck Ice Cube - Event Profile Skin - 1x Aquatic Snow Jar - 1x Gone Fishing Stamp - 7 Days Gold Account Time - 1x Snapping Seafood Salad - 1x Alluring Information Book - 1x Random Aquatic Companion
Introducing the Chilly Muck Ice Cube, Muck Ice Cube, Moving Muck Ice Cube, Chilly Gunk Ice Cube, Gunk Ice Cube, and Moving Gunk Ice Cube -- though the waters are pristine now, it's important to keep on top of it to prevent another mess! This means the occasional Muck and Gunk can still be fished up, and you may even turn them into Ice Cubes at the Ice Box.
Of course, we can't forget our newest Pet Colour: Aquatic! These Pets were discovered by the Terrafrostian who were the first to fish up their Morphing Potions, and the Aquatic colour itself when the Aquatic Snow Jar was first fished up. Another round of congratulations to @Heaven, @Voermina, @Sumasuun, @Kamisheru14, and @Travis for their discoveries!
We felt this fit the discovery aspect of the event, and future Aquatic Pets will be discovered in the same way!
The Aquatic Snow Jar, Aquatic Lugra Morphing Potion, Aquatic Ridix Morphing Potion, Aquatic Ori Morphing Potion, and Aquatic Krittle Morphing Potion are all also be available in the I.C.E Shop for 500 IceCash (450 for Gold Accounts) from now until the end of October.
"Howdy," Gilbert says. "This whole thing got me thinkin'. Someone -- not Jacobi, he has his Companion Reserve in the Halipar Jungles to run -- has to keep an eye on the Companions. Make sure they are taken care of, and not compelled to hoard junk in the Talytil Lakes again."
"The Reserve is under control," Jacobi assures. He does not elaborate further.
"So I've decided to open up my own fishin' shop," Gilbert says, ignoring Jacobi. "I'm calling it Gilbert's Lucky Lures, and the proceeds will go towards taking care of the local Companions."
Gilbert's initial stock of lures are the Imit Lure, Equea Lure, Teuligo Lure, Lake Bloom Lure, Ladon Lure, Simple Colour Lure, Patterned Colour Lure, and Marvelous Colour Lure.
These lures all boost -- but do not guarantee! -- the likelihood of fishing up the Companion or Companion Colour they are associated with. All lures are also single-use... but you may use a lure each time you fish, so don't be shy about stocking up!
With the conclusion of the Discovery Event, we are pleased to announce both the Fishing Skill and Fishing Log!
The initial three Fishing locations will require 0 fishing skill, but any new locations will require a certain amount of skill before you can fish there. The skill cap will increase with each new location.
Any Companions you catch while fishing will be recorded in your Fishing Log, including however many times you do so! (Traded Companions won't count towards your Log... Gilbert will know.)
Who knows what other locations -- and Items -- are just waiting to be discovered...?
Speaking of new Fishing locations, one of the locals has opened up their Lakeside Cottage to experienced anglers!

@Travis returns to the pier with a pink and orange creature that is happily wiggling at the bow of the boat. "Hello!" it calls, before anyone else can say anything.
"... Howdy," Gilbert says after a moment, raising a flipper. Jacobi gives a more excited wave.
The creature hops onto the pier, then turns and hops back into the water, wiggling again.
"... Right. Congratulations, @Travis, on your discovery of the-"
"Krittle!" it says happily. "Aquatic Krittle!"
Fished up from the ever clearing waters of Talytil Lake, the new Aquatic Krittle Morphing Potion appears! Discovered by @Travis, it seems like there is small chance of reeling one in when fishing at certain locations.
From now until the end of October, it will also be available in the I.C.E Shop for 500 IceCash (450 for Gold Accounts).
As you all grow more adept at retrieving muck and gunk, the points you all earn may soon double!

The creature @Kamisheru14 returns to the pier with has some rather colourful and sharp fins. "Oohh... I reckon you're dangerous," Jacobi says, reaching a paw out.
"Then don't touch," Gilbert says, exasperated as they smack Jacobi's paw down.
The creature gives an amused, gurgly hoot. "I would consider my venom dangerous, yes."
Jacobi leans in a bit. "On a scale of-"
"No, no, nope, stop," Gilbert says, raising their voice. "Anyway. Congratulations, @Kamisheru14, on your discovery of the Aquatic Ori!"

"Were you all just hiding these?" Gilbert asks, gently bewildered as @Sumasuun returns to the pier with an excited, spotted creature.
"You're so cute!" Jacobi coos, the creature responding by splashing him with water and beaming. Coughing, he adds, "Anyway! Congratulations, @Sumasuun, on discovering the Aquatic Ridix!"

Gilbert stares at @Voermina and the Pet accompanying them. After a long, frankly awkward moment of silence, they say, "Is that a Lugra?"
"I am a Lugra," the Pet confirms, sounding amused. "An Aquatic Lugra, to be precise."
Gilbert spins to face Jacobi, who recoils a bit in surprise. "I'll be right back," they say. "Hold these."
"Wh- where are you going?" Jacobi asks, bewildered as Gilbert shoves his sword and pouch into his arms.
"Come with me," Gilbert says gruffly to the other Lugra, ignoring Jacobi. They both disappear under the water, and after another moment of silence Jacobi looks at @Voermina.
"Well, that happened," Jacobi says. "Anyway... congratulations, @Voermina! It looks like there are even more Aquatic Pets to be discovered, and you found the Lugra!"

Several hours pass before the two Lugrae reappear... except they are both Aquatic. "This is the best," Gilbert says excitedly, giving the water a splash with his flippers. "The best!"

It hasn't been easy, but we've finally reached our first stretch goal! More than 30,000 points have been acquired through our collective work. If you've been helping clean up Talytil Lakes, be sure give yourself a big pat on the back! (And if you haven't helped out yet, there's still plenty of time to jump in -- we still have a good way to go.)
To thank our dedicated participants for their hard work, even more rewards are being prepared by Jacobi! They will be handed out at the end of the event.
Because of our cleaning efforts, the lake is now clear enough to start sailing (and wading) without Gilbert's watchful eye! Hop in a boat or set up a picnic on the shore and start fishing -- you may find some unique Items along the way.
Remember, Talytil Lakes isn't out of the woods just yet. Our final stretch goal is at 50,000 points. Keep up the hard work, and we'll surely reach it in no time!
Not only that -- there are Zabeus in the lakes, and there are Zabeus in the skies! The colourful Rainbow Zabeu is here to carry away your woes (or do its very best to). Thank you to @Irissa for funding such a delightful new Pet!
From now until the end of September, the Rainbow Snow Jar will be available in the I.C.E Shop for 500 IceCash (450 for Gold Accounts). It is also always available by completing the Rainbow Snow Jar Jigsaw Puzzle.
A reminder that Zabeus do not have Morphing Potions -- your Pet must already be a Zabeu before using a Snow Jar!

"That," Jacobi says lightly, as @Heaven and Gilbert return to the Pier, a large, finned Pet beside them. "Is not a Companion."
"Sure ain't!" Gilbert agrees. "It's a whole big critter. Pet, even. Aquatic, even. An Aquatic Zabeu, I reckon."
Gilbert gives a wistful sigh. "Makes a Pirate jealous, if I'm being honest."
"Regardless," Jacobi says, beaming. "Well done, @Heaven, on your discovery! Who would've thought there was a new Pet colour beneath the muck?"

The waters around the pier of Talytil Lake are once again crystal clear -- well done, everyone! To show their appreciation, Jacobi and Gilbert have begun preparing some gifts, which will be handed out at the end of the event.
"Y'all work fast," Gilbert says, sounding impressed. "Really fast. I wouldn't be surprised if you find yourselves catching far less at the pier now, given all the muck around it is gone."
Gilbert has also readied enough boats to allow Terrafrostians to continue cleaning further from the pier -- albeit with themself at the helm!
"Please remember to not jump, wiggle, shake, or otherwise attempt to capsize the boat," they say. "Regardless of how interesting you think your latest catch is. I assure you my ire isn't worth it."
"Let me know if you find any more Companions!" Jacobi says cheerfully, a pile of muck in one paw, an Imit in the other. "Though ideally ones less prone to pinching. The Imits are cute, but -- ow! Really?"

The residents of Talityl Lakes have begun wrangling Companions and gathering supplies, and so ask that all of Terrafrost join them in cleaning the lakes before things get out of hand. In order to do so, they have come up with a simple solution: Fishing! Everyone is welcome, and you may join in at any time during the event.
To start off, Gilbert insists that everyone only fish off of the pier. A lot of debris gets caught in the shallows, and Gilbert needs time to prepare their boat...
Welcome to the Clean Talityl Lakes Discovery Event, and to our new permanent feature: Fishing!
- Terrafrostians interested in helping out should head on over to the signup page to borrow a fishing pole.
- Once an hour (or every 45 minutes for Gold Accounts), you may cast your line off the pier.
- You earn points as you fish, and your points go towards the common goal of cleaning up the lakes.
- Each successful cast is worth 1 point. While there is a lot to clean... sometimes a hook will come up empty.
- Every glob of muck you catch is automatically turned in for 20 points.
- There are plenty of other items you may catch as well, and you may turn them in for a varying number of points or keep them -- but keep in mind any items you choose to keep cannot be turned in later!
"Thank you kindly for volunteering!" Jacobi says, a squirming Nautical Nuisance in his arms. "I'm sure -- ow! -- we'll have the lakes cleaned up in no time!"

For weeks, the Talytil Lakes have become dangerously polluted. And today, we've finally discovered the cause! It appears that swarms of Companions have been attempting to hoard their snacks, toys, and other belongings in these lakes. We aren't sure how long this has been happening, but investigators suspect this has been going on for months.
"Typically, Companions don't engage in such destructive behavior," Jacobi, a Companion expert explains. "But even in this case, these Companions do not mean any harm -- they are simply trying their best to survive! However, as the stewards of Terrafrost, it is our job to correct this behavior and clean up the messes these beloved creatures have made."
Do you want to help restore Talytil Lakes to its original beauty? Keep an eye on the news! In a few days, we'll be sharing a signup sheet and more information on how to do your part. There will be no limit for how many people can join, since we will need all the help we can get!
