For those of you who love to role play, I just posted a set of basic guidelines to keep in mind. These guidelines were written by a staff member before IcePets was even here, close to two years ago. Feel free to participate in any open role plays you see on the Role Plays Forum, or start one of your own. ^_^

Here at Icepets we�re working to make your experience around the site as enjoyable as possible, but in order to do this there do have to be guidelines in restrictions. Don�t fret, though! These are just some basic guidelines to make sure our boards stay in the squeaky clean, pristine condition we love to see them in. We ask you to please read these guidelines before creating a topic on the Roleplaying Forum.
� Always, always, always be respectful to the other roleplayers/users. � Do NOT spam to bump your topic to the top of the forum. � �One on One� search topics are perfectly accepted, and not considered spam. � Try not to make too many topics. For example, if you just made a one x one topic, wait a few hours or so before creating a group topic. � Please keep in mind that there could be younger users viewing your topic. Keep all plots and scenarios PG-13. � We suggest our more mature or �limitless� roleplayers please take the roleplay to e-mail, instant messengers, or our messaging system. � When creating a topic, feel free to add your own rules or guidelines to our set of forum and roleplaying guidelines.
If you abide by these rules, we will have healthy happy forums, and we hope you have a healthy and happy roleplaying experience. Remember to be creative, have fun, and let your imagination run free.

Letting you all know ahead of time about some scheduled downtime IcePets will have for back end maintenance. The downtime will be split into two segments, to minimize the amount of days in a row the site will have to be down. Jan 9th to Jan 12th and then Jan 23rd to Jan 25th. This is the maximum amount of time it will take, and may be completed sooner. You probably will not notice any difference, but a difference will be made on our end to ensure the site is able to run smoothly for the long term.
Now for some New Years news! Every 30 minutes on New Years youll have a chance to grab a Pinata to whack and win some items. After grabbing a pinata, you will see a timer counting down 30 minutes until you can have another.

For those of you using Facebook, a new opportunity is here to earn referrals. On every page of IcePets, below your pets display on the left sidebar, you just click the Like button. When you click the Like button it will update to your Facebook Activity Feed that you like this page on IcePets, and anytime a friend clicks the link and joins it will be through your referral link.

The Snowman
Build a Snowman has been added to the Games Arcade so that it is easier to access, and the item Snowman Part Helper has been added to the I.C.E Shop. This unique item will transform into a random Snowman Part, however it will only transform into a Part that you havent added to your snowman yet.
Gifting
When you send a gift to someone (and optionally add a personal message), they will receive a message notifying them of their gift, however they wont be able to unwrap your gift, or read your message until christmas onwards.
Also, a thread has been setup in the Site Features forum to allow public thank yous to people who give you gifts.

The limited Christmas item Snowflake Stamp can now be added to your stamp collection, as well as the other newly released stamps.
If you experienced the issue of not immediately receiving limited Christmas items upon giving gifts, you should know that has been corrected and all owed items sent to your inventory.
When giving a gift, you now have the ability to send a message with your gift. This means when your friends open their gift they can read whatever little message you send to them.

Every player has their very own Christmas Tree. Your tree will start off looking like the above, with no presents underneath. However with every four gifts you receive, after the first, your tree image will update with another showing gift under the tree until looking like what you see below.
Your generous gift giving will not be without reward. For every time you send an item to someones Christmas Tree, you IMMEDIATELY get a limited edition Christmas item added to your inventory!
As if getting immediate rewards for giving gifts to other isnt enough, the top giver and receiver each get 2100IC + a Treasure Chest for their outstanding efforts in this event.
When you open your gifts on Christmas Day, this special avatar will be waiting for you.
So get out there, make some friends, give some gifts, get some gifts, and feel the reward.

These 9 Snowman Parts are spread out around the site for you the find. Seven parts are in shops and two in the arcade. Find them all to Build a Snowman!
You may Build a Snowman as many times as you want, and every time you do the prize of a Complete Snowman item will be awarded to you. This is a very special item, with a unique ability.
In association with the Build a Snowman feature is a hidden quest. If you want any of the exclusive snow items from this quest, you will have to find out how to unlock it. When you unlock the Snowman Quest, the Glacia land map updates to show a linking a image to this quest.

In case you were wondering what the IcePets team is working on, I will share some of that info with you here now.
Battle System. This is near completion. A small amount of programming is needed yet, then further staff testing to assure a bug free experience, next Lolly will pretty it up with some graphic design, and last but not least it will be released for everyone to play.
Christmas Features. We have two Christmas features in the works that you will see very soon. Considering the time restriction, this is a high priority for us and will be one of the soonest things you see released.
New Layout. Lolly did an amazing job making a new, and very much improved, layout for all of you to use. Only a small bit of programming is needed yet for this, and you will be seeing it very soon.

The Plush-O-Matic is a new daily freebie in the Games Arcade. Plushies are primarily released from the Plush-O-Matic, and occasionally when you complete a quest by giving Samuel a plushie he will put it in the Toy Shop for you or someone else to buy.
How it works: Upon scanning a pets paw, if the Plush-O-Matic has a plushie available that matches that specie/color it will reward it, otherwise it will do its best to match it by rewarding with a similar plushie. Choosing to scan yourself will give you a completely random result.

All the limited Halloween items have been taken out of the main shops, and now can only be obtained through users who were savvy enough pick some up.
Garlic and Crucifix Earrings, Witches Cauldron, Skeleton Key, Voodoo Doll, Things That Go Bump in the Night, Bloody Wooden Stake, Garlic Clove; have all been retired.
Keep in mind, every Thanksgiving item will be removed from main shops just like the Halloween items were. There will be no notice, no set date, it will just happen. Be two steps ahead of everyone else and restock as many as you can while you can.
The rarity of all limited Thanksgiving items is now at Common, and the price at 500, to make them easier to obtain for this short period of time they can be restocked.

The players GodFollower and Missy just got themselves custom avatars.
If you want an avatar, unique to only you, you can find the Custom Avatar item in the ICE Shop. After buying one of these, and filling out the small request form of how you want the avatar to look, the IcePets Graphics Designer will make you the custom avatar you want.
