I'd love to hear how you guys spend the superbowl tbh. For us in Germany (at least where I am), you KNOW it's superbowl and you have a few people that stay up all night to watch it (yay timezones), but that's about it.

Honestly, this year I didn't do much because I wasn't super invested in either team. I was definitely rooting for the Eagles, but not for any other reason than I couldn't stand another Brady/Belichick win. Although, the Eagles fanbase is ridiculously destructive, so it made it hard for me to support the team. It's pretty disappointing to see the news reports after the team wins.

I have a friend who is a die hard Eagles fan and he use to make bets with me all the time on how well the team would do. He lost. Constantly. Until this year, that is. His ego is like x1M right now. It's a little ridiculous.

Sadly, my team didn't even make playoffs this year. So all around it's a pretty meh ending to an incredibly meh year.

On another meh note, the commercials weren't that great and I kept waiting for a wow moment during JT's halftime performance. Never came.

@Nati, At least you got to watch the halftime game.. My Bf's dad was in charge of the remote, and refused to let us watch it because "Justin Timberlake is irrelevant".

Anyway, we live in Philly, soooo understandably it was WILD.. fireworks.. people EVERYWHERE... Google "Philly superbowl" and I'm sure there will be a clip or 50 of people being crazy...

That has to be the funniest take on the halftime show I think I've heard! You really didn't miss much, but I'm sure you can find it online somewhere. It was just a lot of him dancing around and you could tell he wasn't singing the majority of it. It wasn't terrible in and of itself, necessarily. But there's like a huge issue going on with the fact that he did a Prince tribute and apparently he had made a lot of agreements with Prince's family to not do certain things that he ended up doing or whatever? That's just pretty unfortunate. I also was really hoping for some sort of Janet Jackson redemption! I think if he brought her out and she could have done her song successfully, it would have at least helped alleviate the bad blood there.

Are you an Eagles fan? Apologies if anything I said about their fanbase came off as rude. That really wasn't my intention, I've just seen a lot of the videos from what happened and it looks like straight up rioting. I'm glad to hear that you are safe though and hopefully you had a fun time celebrating away from the people that take it a bit too far!

@Nati I care about .004% about Football, or any sports in general.. I'm just obligated to cheer for Philly teams because it's the closest city that I live near.

(I'm from NJ and was raised as a Giants/Mets fan)

Growing up, I definitely felt the same!
Around here everyone is pretty obsessed, so I grew up hating football just for the spite of it. But once I got to college, it actually became pretty fun to keep up with (plus parties, let's be serious). It was just a good reason to get everyone together and hyped up about the same thing! Not to mention my roommate senior year was super, super, super into sports. So I think my apartment kind of became football central for 90% of the year!

Are you going to be watching the Winter Olympics too?

I think the Olympics are on regular channels!
Do you still get access to those even without cable? My family never had cable until after I left for college... so I know the struggle. But they might have changed how things work since then. We use to have an antenna, if those even exist anymore lol
