I've started reading it so I can finish before the movie comes out. I'm not very far but so far I'm LOVING it! It's hilarious and totally relatable! Oh my goodness! I know the movie is never as good as the book... but I'm still excited!

Oh! I think I might have seen a trailer for this somewhere, but I never knew it was an actual book! Sometimes I watch the movies first and then read the books afterwards so I'm not disappointed when the movie leaves out all the details.

I know that's kind of opposite from what most people do though. I'm definitely going to have to check this out!

I've heard this is one of the all-time classics of its genre and it's been on my list for years! I'm going to have to rush to read it before the movie now DX The basic premise didn't really appeal to me, especially because I think it's aimed at a generation slightly before me (lots of 80s videogaming nostalgia). But the trailer sure looks epic so I'll have to rush it in my to-read queue heh. Right after I reread Wrinkle in Time!

Here is the node, you who hate change and fear revolution. Keep these two squatting men apart; make them hate, fear, suspect each other. Here is the anlage of the thing you fear. This is the zygote. For here "I have lost my land" is changed; a cell is split and from its splitting grows the thing you hate—"We lost our land." The danger is here, for two men are not as lonely and perplexed as one. And from this first "we" there grows a still more dangerous thing: "I have a little food" plus "I have none." If from this problem the sum is "We have a little food," the thing is on its way, the movement has direction.

@skipena

I just finished it last night, my friends were talking about it and getting all hyped for the movie and just watching the trailer I decided to also read it before it comes out.

I love love loved the book, it was so well written and researched. Humorous and sad, and I also related to it in many ways.

But, I felt cheated at the ending. I think I was just expecting more. I am super picky like that.

@Nati @Megrim

So I finished the book! A while ago actually, but I had forgotten I created this thread haha.
I LOVED IT. But from what the trailers show... they are SO FAR from the book... I'm going to have to treat them as their own seperate things or I'm just going to get upset haha. Kind of like "How to Train Your Dragon" was a book and then they made the movie and ALL they used from the book were the names.....
anyways, if you want to watch the movie and read the book... don't expect them to be too similar haha

@Chapstick
I actually liked the ending! It leaves it to your imagination to decide what they do with the rest of their lives! Personally, I liked it a lot.
