Does anyone know how to a top view walking cycle? Here's my attempt at it. walking_cycle_top_view_by_foxmew4044-dbunxgx.gif Yes I tried looking it up but all I was getting was the basic side view walking cycle and back view.

Ps. I'm currently in the process of making a bear character at the moment moment but I want a different art style for it. So if there an art style that you think that I should go with ping me and thank you:3

I do.. .but it's really hard to explain written out... If you can look up references of the top of the type of animal you are trying to draw, I'm sure that would help. Or maybe look up "overhead view of bear walking" or something like that?

I'll try looking for it for you and see if I can find some stuff. Just give me a minute..

this isn't from above, but could help you see how the legs stay under the body while he is running. you may see bits of them from the sides and when they go out in the front or back. Yours looks a bit like he's crawling because the legs are sprawled out more.

this one is close....

p.s. none of this is my art. I found these online

My advice is to watch videos of the view, look on youtube and pause it often and sketch the big movements of the hips from side to side and animate that, then add the between frames from left to right swinging.

Thats how I learned to animate walking, I went from 4 frames to 8 to 16. I have never done an above view drawing myself, you are inspiring me to try new things.

Good luck and don't give up!! You have great talent and if you keep trying things like this you will go far!!

That looks like a great improvement!
I think you might see the tips of the paws as they come directly forward, but the body and leg shapes are great! smile_happy.gif

that looks a lot better already! Did you ever find that lion king gif? It's really weird that there is like no pictures of animals from above like that huh

I think that you could still see his paws go out in front of him and behind him (or her?) just a bit

awe I'm sorry smile_unsure.gif
buuuut.... My sister is pretty good at drawing and she is decent at animation. I asked her if she could do a sample of an animal walking from above to show you. It may take a little while but I will send it when she's done!

EDIT:
here is my sister's quick animation for reference. She did a lion.
