Hello, hello! Yes, this'll do fine. I didn't think you'd reply at this time, haha.
I've already talked about my goals in the other thread, and my pets... aren't ready yet. So I'll just talk about boring real life things, in that I'm going to be attending uni again at the end of this month. But there are so many things I want to do and need to do, it just feels so tiring sometimes... smile_yawn.gif Tell me a little about yourself? I'm afraid I'll be going to bed now, but I'll be back soon enough. If you don't want to say much, we'll manage something. smile_laugh.gif

Don't do anything I would do.
And definitely don't do anything I wouldn't do.

@Aer Well, I work 3rd shift and was sick last night, so that's why I was up and able to post on boards. I'll go to sleep in a few hours and then be back again this evening.

What are you studying at uni?

Oh, well I hope you're feeling better now. I'm majoring in Statistics, but I'm aiming to change to a different major. What's your work? Do you have any upcoming plans? I've been meaning to get back into exercising, but it's hard since I haven't done it seriously for the longest time.

@Aer

I am feeling better now. Statistics seems complicated to me, what are you wanting to change to? I work doing data entry. I know what you mean about exercising, I'm pretty lazy myself.

I am working this icepets plot and I admit, it's only been a few days but I really miss Cecie. I am stuck at the 'grabbing a cube' part, I thought it would be easy but apparently it's very random. I keep picking the same color with hope that it will eventually not be empty. Is that a good strategy? Also, I peeked ahead and saw the posting requirement and that's why we're here. I'm also going to be stuck on the 'survivor' requirement, I'm sure if I get that, it'll be pure luck. But it looks like it may take quite a long time to get the cube, so I've got time. Thank you again for helping me with this!

@deaana

Statistics can get pretty complicated, haha. There was a whole mess with my old university and the one I'm transferring into this year. Before, I was an Actuarial Science major. Now, ideally I'll be changing into Computer Science.

Yes, the Token redeeming block can get pretty irritating when people start the plot and didn't really know that it takes a while like this. Unfortunately, since the Cube Grab is completely random, there's no way to tell for sure. I use the method of "don't even look at what I'm clicking, just click the first thing I see asap". (It's silly, I know. Just feels a bit luckier to me.)

For Survivor, I'd suggest just saving a Send Score and retrying until you get a couple of those point bonuses (star in a cube) in the beginning until you get a decent score. Also, when it gets later in the round, don't bother dodging. Just hover and shoot whatever comes right at you.

Don't worry about it! I'm happy to lend a hand. I did this with my cousin for her post requirement too, actually. smile_laugh.gif Apologies that my responses always end up pretty slow. Seems I'm always napping or away at the worst times, haha.

HAHA!

...Icepoints!

You received 5,000 ip!

Yay! Now on to the tough stuff...er...tougher stuff...because I'm sure it'll only get even tougher as time goes on. smile_shock.gif

I'll keep trying on Survivor. Persistence is the key, I'm sure.

I'm super glad summer's almost over, I love the fall and the cooler temperatures. Also, that means the holidays are coming up and I love those!

Survivor is the big hurdle, yes. (edit: I got it! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)

Ah I peeked ahead on the quest and I see it's only 30 posts on the boards, some posts I read said there was a later one for 50 but that's not the case. Nice.

We don't usually do much for Halloween around here, the trick or treaters have become less and less. smile_sad.gif I do love the horror movies, though.

I'm sure you'll get it soon, if you haven't already. smile_happy.gif

Yeah, Halloween has been kinda disappointing. I like to hang out with the garage door open and give out candy, but I guess since the weather in my area has been bad for the last few Halloweens, and since the last few have always fallen on a weekend, there's been very few trick-or-treaters. I'm hoping I'll make my own costume, but I can be horribly lazy and procrastinate-y sometimes.

I'm not one for horror, since jump-scares turn me into a wide eyed deer. Have you watched the recent horror movies that have come out though? My friend says It isn't too scary. (Still, not gonna happen.)

I'm really looking forward to the Flatliners remake and the It remake seems nice and creepy. I'm not big on jump scares, but I like twists. I love the old tv shows, the anthologies, like outer limits and twilight zone the most. At least I have various creepy podcasts to keep me occupied.

I did get survivor! Got super lucky today on first try.

Oh, that's unfortunate. Is it the dander and the fur that causes a problem?

I'd actually forgot to mention that I also have three Tetra fish. I'd like a Betta instead, but they can't coexist in my tank so... little Tetra fish it is.

It's dander, and he has asthma, too, so it'd be very bad if we got a critter.

I used to have a betta named Clyde. He'd jump out of the water for me when I fed him. He died and I tried with another betta but it just wasn't the same, ended up giving the second one to a neighbor's child with all the stuff.

I've thought about getting a pet, but working nights it's hard. I can't even get plants because we keep the curtains closed all the time, it'd be too dark. I dream, someday, of working a day shift job. smile_happy.gif

Ah, that's too bad. Perhaps in the future, it'll become possible for people with allergies and asthma to have pets too. I think I should get an air filter for my home -- the cat fur and cockatiel dander and just plain dust gets ridiculous.

Hopefully you'll get a morning shift soon, then! So do you think you wouldn't get another Betta ever again? What pet do you think you could get that your husband would be able to live with?

I'm not sure about pets, we've been married a long time without pets, we may not ever get any. I like cats though, they're my favorite. Good thing we have the internet, i'm able to see lots of videos and such, so I don't feel deprived of cute kitties.

We have an air filter in our AC and it definitely helps hubby. He swaps them out every three months or so.

Yes, I've done some gardening in the past, some things from seeds, but when i planted them outside the rabbits ate them. smile_sad.gif

I've also planted roses, too, but that was at my old place and where I live now has got landscaping contracted by someone, so not really able to put stuff outside.

edit: gotta run to work, have a great night.

@Aer

I do have experience I guess. What I remember that helped a lot was putting plant food in the water when you water the plants. It made my pansies have great big flowers.

I would also suggest repotting plants as needed, if you're doing container gardening. Don't let them get all rootbound before you do it.

I remember silly things like pick the flowers off of coleus so they'll grow big instead of skinny. I bought a packet of seeds of mixed coleus once and had tons of them. If you cut a stem off of one and put it in water, it'll root again and then when there's a bunch of roots, fill the water up with dirt and then you've got a new plant. They were everywhere. Maybe I'll get some next year, they're good in the shady areas. smile_heart.gifsmile_heart.gifsmile_heart.gif

@deaana

I'll try that next time I try to garden! Plant food is somewhere in storage... Plants don't really even make it even close to the rootbound stage for me. Maybe I'm also overwatering? Or the soil is too dense?

That sounds gorgeous! If you do grow coleus next year, will it be indoors or outdoors?

You just need one more post! Woohoo!

@Aer

Well you should be able to see roots when you transplant it, but not be overcrowded with them. If you repot them too soon it might be an issue, too. The plant is roughly the same size as the roots, from what I remember, so when it starts getting bigger than the pot, it's time to repot.

If I grow coleus, and start from seed, it'll start inside. There's actually a grow bulb light you can buy to help them grow while indoors. I remember using that a lot, too.

Make sure you are using potting soil and not just ordinary dirt from outside when you're container gardening, dirt from outside has a big range of nutrients depending where you are and it might not be enough to help your plants grow.

And I could be wrong on all this, I'm no expert, there was no internet back when I was gardening and I haven't looked for these online, just from my experience.

Yes! 30 posts! this lurker is official now. Delightful. Thank you so much @Aer!!! And if anyone else needs help like this, just ping me, I'm on every day.

Okay, this is kind of random. But I see you guys were talking about plants and I have a question!

So I got a Japanese Maple Bonsai tree for Christmas and I think.. it died. :/
It came in December with only a few leaves, which I expected because it's deciduous, but then when summer came, no new leaves grew. I moved it outside. I've tried more sun, less sun, re-potting it.. nothing seems to have worked.

Any suggestions?
