@Luventas,

I thought of that, but then decided it couldn't be right.

I figured they talked about the empty barrels just to confuse us.

@Luventas but how would you make sure the full barrels are split in half exactly? In the description they said it's dark and dusty, so they couldn't see if they're divided the right way.

If you make a full barrel out of 2 half ones, you're sure the amount is right and everyone get 3 full barrels and one that's half-full

@Luventas - If there are 7 full barrels, to begin with, the first 2 that every grand-daughter got would not need to be split in 2. Since that is done evenly.

Since they don't have the tools to make all of the empty ones into evenly split ones, they have to combine the half-full ones into whole ones, since that requires no measurements.

I don't understand how to do the new trivia? Could someone explain?

Interesting thought about pouring all the full barrels into halves! But I think that creates a lot more work / extra steps, and occam's razor makes that not the best answer. I think Miemie explained it best - you're kinda asking for trouble by then not being sure you split it evenly in half.

Like Judda said, they can already divide 2 full barrels to each. They're left with 1 unaccounted for, and then all the half-full ones. Pour two pairs of half-full to create the extra 2 full barrels. Then that leaves 3 half-full barrels (7 - 4). So each daughter gets 3 full barrels and 1 half-full barrel.

Here is the node, you who hate change and fear revolution. Keep these two squatting men apart; make them hate, fear, suspect each other. Here is the anlage of the thing you fear. This is the zygote. For here "I have lost my land" is changed; a cell is split and from its splitting grows the thing you hate—"We lost our land." The danger is here, for two men are not as lonely and perplexed as one. And from this first "we" there grows a still more dangerous thing: "I have a little food" plus "I have none." If from this problem the sum is "We have a little food," the thing is on its way, the movement has direction.

@Sweetthing30 No one can discuss the current trivia as that is against the rules.

After a lot of thought (and a support ticket that wouldn't clarify anything) I ended up submitting 2.

I knew that everyone would evenly end up with 3.5 barrels worth of wine, however I figured that the easiest solution was to divvy up the barrels as is and not worry about making a mess in the dark and dusty room by pouring.

Two would get 2 barrels and 3 half barrels, the other would get 3 barrels and 1 half barrel. Everyone gets the same amount of wine. Everyone got (at least) 2 full barrels.

The question could have been worded better. Since it didn’t mention, at least and each of them got different amounts of full barrels, I figured that it meant how many total barrels of full wine each of them would receive when added together.

A while back, I also had trouble figuring out the answer that the Trivia wanted because of how unclear the question was. I asked the staff a question about it, but their reply was super vague and unhelpful. I ended up getting the answer incorrect. I wasn’t that upset, but I was disappointed in the staff’s lack of help to clear things up.

Can anyone explain how the previous trivia was supposed to be solved? I've never seen a word puzzle like that before, so I guessed that we were supposed to find a (site related) word inside the grid. I submitted "easter quest" as my answer, because you can actually find those words in the last two columns (if you read from bottom to top). But the correct answer is "daisy"... I don't see that word in the grid, so obviously I have no idea what kind of puzzle this is, lol.

(The lack of instructions was confusing though, I think it's the first time that's happened)

@Fearless - I can think of at least 2 more trivia that had no question. So it isn't the first time and probably won't be the last smile_grin.gif

@Judda Looking back at the Trivia History, you're absolutely right! smile_laugh.gif

Speaking of future questions, I do hope the Cheat Sheet Stamp will be returning soon. smile_angel.gif To my knowledge there are currently less than a handful of them in existence...

@Fearless,

Thanks for your help. I had no idea what the answer was. I looked at it several times and couldn't come up with anything.

All I found was the word quest.

Ooooh, I didn't think to look for a word in each column. As soon as I found "easter quest", I thought that was it. Oh well, at least I got an avatar for getting it wrong! lol
