Anime seems very cool to me, I watched some Pokemon when I was really to young for it, but other than that an this one somewhat obscure short lived show I never watched Anime in years. Here's why:
The short lived show was called Magical Do Re Mi, it was about three tweens who become witches in training, It's about as squeeky clean as Anime can get, with nothing more than some rare very mild slapstick pratfalls, so it was for a younger crowd than most Anime, and it was aimed at girls about 8 to 12, it was on when I was 8 about 5 to 4 in a half years ago, I was really into it is spring 06, but a girl in my Girl Scout troop said it was only for 3 year olds, so I burned all the dolls I bought of it, and I never watched Anime again, and I turn off the TV for up to a week if I even see an ad for one, so when I watch cartoons on anything but the plain Disney, and the plain Nick I have to pause it, and flip through the ads very fast. I keep hearing about great Animes, but I don't even watch that old really cool looking one Avatar The Last Airbender, which is not even an Anime. How do I overcome the fear?
P.S. I watch Hannah Montana which I always thought was for 12 or 13+, and I play with My Little Ponies, and watch the DVDs, and I love Fanboy and Chum Chum, and the only current Disney show I don't like is Jonas LA but I love the Jonas Brothers, and the only things I don't like on new Nick are Back At The Barnyard, and The Troop. Deal with that!

Is it true that if you mix ketchup, mustard, melted chocolate, and Kool Aid powder together and pour it in the computer the computer will download out a freaky nerdy turtle to be your friend?

I would think about trying not to worry about what other people think. You want to hear a funny story? I just turned 30. And, I've been known, to purposely watch Handy Manny, Pokemon, Garfield, and a couple of the NBC weekend morning cartoons, if they're on. And, you know what? I'm not worried about it. If people make fun of me, that's their choice. I know what I like, and it shouldn't bother other people if I like it. And if it does, too bad for them. I've had enough people make fun of me for various reason in my life, to take away things from me that I enjoy. So, my advice, would be, if you want to watch anime, you should. If you want to watch anime for young kids, even though you're a little older, then you should. Nobody has the right to make you feel bad for anything you like, in your life.

I've tried a few times over the years to watch Anime, and even many Anime aimed and tweens is a little to edgy for an 8 year old, but I'm old enought now that I should be able to watch any Anime but the Adult swim ones, but every time I try something, I worry if that girl (who by the way was about a year younger than me, and said she saw the toys for the show in a store that did not even sell them, and said the boxes said ages 3 to 5, which the do not, and never said it was for 3 year olds in a mean or teasing way, but said it like she was making a plain point.) is still out there and now that she might be old enough to go on chat sites may be still bragging about how I liked a show for 3 year olds. And also I know remember she had told me her mom had saw ads for the show and had told her it was for 3 year olds.

That's what I mean though. You shouldn't let her rule what you want to watch on tv. I mean, my parents have told me that since I was about 2 I told them what I was going to wear, or even what I wanted them to buy for clothes. It's all a matter of personal preference. Obviously, this girl didn't care so much for the show you were watching. But, that doesn't mean that if you liked it you should just stop watching anime altogether. Anime, is actually packed with a lot more meaning than American cartoons are. A lot of it has to do with the American culture being somewhat conservative. Anime from what I've read, is more like a lot of American tv shows. It's more aimed toward adults. Manga definitely is, but I can't see much difference between Anime and Manga, other than that one is in comic form, and the other is in TV show form.

What about the fact the she told me her mom say an ad for it and said it was for 3 year olds, and that she said she went to a store that did not even sell the toys for the show, and said the boxes said ages 3 to 5? (When in fact the boxes really said like 6+.)

It sounds like she's making up a bunch of stuff to make you feel bad and/or to make her feel superior. Ignore what she says and watch what you like. I know it's hard when you feel like you're being judged, but she (or anyone else) shouldn't dictate what you should or shouldn't like.

I think Enits hit the nail on the head. If they don't even sell them in the store she says she went to, then she's just making things up. Even if, by chance, they did, for a short time, have them, all toys have ratings on them for ages. It's a safety precaution for parents. You don't want a kid to get a toy that has parts small enough that they might swallow it, if they put it in their mouth. And, a lot of games (ones that I play) say that they're for ages 8 and up. But, that doesn't stop me from playing them, even if they're geared more toward 8 year olds.

I have not talked to her or seen her in 3 years. It's really not just her making me feel bad, I really am scared of Anime, does anyone know what the phobia of Anime is called if there is one?

This is the first time I hear of someone who actually has an animephobia (don't know if this is what it's called, if there even is a word for it).
What kind of thoughts do you get when seeing or thinking about anime?

Thinking about it does not really make me scared, but when I see it I think of scary demons and space mutants coming to get me.
